How to choose an outdoor LED floodlight
LED floodlights are used to illuminate entrances, gardens, building façades, garages, car parks and professional spaces. To choose the right model, you should consider more than just wattage.
Assess the area
Start by considering where the floodlight will be installed, the size of the area and the mounting height.
A small entrance requires less light than a building façade, car park or industrial space. The larger the area and the greater the distance from the surface being illuminated, the more light may be required.
Compare lumens
Watts indicate energy consumption, while lumens show the amount of light produced.
Two floodlights with the same wattage may produce different amounts of light. For this reason, always compare the lumen output and not only the wattage.

Check the IP rating
Outdoors, a floodlight may be exposed to rain, moisture and dust.
IP65 is a common rating for outdoor floodlights, but the appropriate level of protection depends on the location and degree of exposure.
With or without a motion sensor?
A floodlight with a motion sensor is useful for entrances, garages and passageways. The light switches on when movement is detected and switches off after the selected period.
If you want the area to remain illuminated continuously, a floodlight without a sensor may be more suitable.
For models with a sensor, check the detection range, detection angle and available adjustment options.
Choose the color temperature
You should also check the beam angle. A wider angle illuminates a larger area, while a narrower beam directs the light towards a specific point.
